Stargaze with Law360’s Rising Stars Under 40

With only about a decade of experience, Amir Tayrani or J. Parker Miller may not be who opponents expect to find across the table. But once you see what their resumes include — counseling state governors, litigating against oil behemoth BP, and fighting for same-sex marriage — it's no wonder Law360 considers them Rising Stars.

This year, 163 attorneys made the Rising Stars Under 40 list, out of a pool of more than 1,000 nominees. The annual series recognizes attorneys under 40 who have accomplished great feats during their relatively short legal careers. Law360 editors pored over impressive submissions detailing cases, negotiations, and deals to come up with this list of top legal talent.

"The caliber of the candidates was truly impressive this year. Young attorneys are increasingly taking the lead on the biggest lawsuits and deals and handling the firm's most important clients. We also see young attorneys making exciting contributions in newer areas of the law like privacy and data security," said managing editor Cat Fredenburgh when asked about this year’s list in comparison to previous years.

Automotive Law360 Drives Increase of News Coverage

Today, Law360 introduced its 38^th section with the launch of Automotive Law360. The section covers major litigation, regulatory, legislative, and transactional developments affecting auto and auto parts manufacturers as well as parts retailers and dealerships.

The first newsletters went out at the crack of dawn this morning. Initial coverage includes updates on the GM recall, a look at the FTC proposal for additional disclosures on gas blends, and the $5.4 billion Blackstone deal for Gates Corp.

Automotive Law360 is the first of more new Law360 sections to come in 2014. Our editors and writers are constantly looking for new areas into which to expand our coverage, and we expect to launch five to eight new sections throughout the year.
