A New Way to Search Patent Complaints

If you are a Law360 platform subscriber, you now have direct access to every new patent complaint, free of charge. More importantly, the complaints are fully searchable so you can sift every filing and pinpoint the suits concerning the issues, technologies and patents you care about most.

 

Complaint Search is simple to use:

1. Log on to www.law360.com

2. Click on Advanced Search next to the search window in the upper-right corner of the Law360 site.

3. Select Complaints in the left sidebar.

4. Enter your search term(s) and any other relevant case details (date of filing range, court, etc.).  

5. Click on any of the the search results to see case details and download the complaint.

6. You can also set up an alert so that you’ll be notified within minutes every time a complaint that matches your criteria is filed in PACER.

Law360 Expands Into Six More Practice Areas

Law360 got its start in 2004 covering high stakes patent litigation and has grown exponentially to become the news source for attorneys in virtually every practice area and industry. And that expansion continues with the launch of several more sections in the weeks to come.

The additions — Consumer Protection, Aerospace & Defense, Hospitality, International Arbitration, Tax, and Capital Markets — will extend Law360 to an even greater population of practitioners in need of a simple way to stay on top of the cases and issues affecting their field.

“We are very pleased with the additions. They have long been a priority for us but we have held off launching the sections until they met our editorial standards,” said managing editor Cat Fredenburgh. “We don’t just parachute in and crank out articles. Instead, we devote a lot of time and resources to making sure the coverage is on point and will resonate with our readers from day one.”

The Runup to Rollout: From the AME’s Perspective

New sections are months in the making. Having launched roughly 20 sections since 2010, we have developed an approach that makes sure the inaugural newsletters are as informed and useful as our most established ones. Long before a new section hits your inbox, the assistant managing editors (AMEs) have canvassed the industry, the news research team has built a system to pinpoint newsworthy issues, and reporters have dived into the practice area. 

 

While this is a team effort, AMEs are at the reins. Law360 veterans, the AMEs have risen through the newsroom to oversee the day-to-day operation of several designated sections and manage roughly a dozen reporters each. When Law360 has a new section in the works, the AMEs are responsible for framing the coverage and tailoring it to the practice area. The process begins with discussions with top attorneys, policy experts and academics on the kind of news they need.

“We are writing about complex issues for a very sophisticated audience, so we start by hearing directly from the experts,” said assistant managing editor Jackie Bell. “It’s not just a question of familiarizing yourself with the types of disputes that broadly characterize a practice area, but drawing into focus the underlying issues and tensions that are a priority for practitioners.”

Law360 Launches Consumer Protection Wire

Law360 today launched Consumer Protection Law360, a single source for all the latest legal news and analysis for attorneys specializing in consumer rights issues. 

Like other sections, Consumer Protection Laws360 provides comprehensive coverage of the cases and issues affecting the practice area. We will focus on the key topics you'll want to follow — from emerging litigation over labeling claims and credit reporting practices, to enforcement initiatives at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. Our nationwide editorial staff will also stay on top of legislative moves on the federal and state level.

"We have covered consumer protection issues for years, only now the extent of our coverage demands a standalone section," assistant managing editor Ian Thoms said. "Practitioners in the space need a way to stay on top of the latest legal developments, especially as consumer protection issues are now a regulatory priority."
