Law360 Adds 11th City To National Expansion

Continuing our geographic expansion, Law360 has added another bureau in Miami, with two reporters covering litigation activity in Florida courts as well as key developments in the state legislature and executive agencies. 

"We hit the ground running. Before I unpacked the boxes, I was making the rounds of the courts and reporting on the regulatory agenda," reporter Carolina Bolado said. "I like being plugged in to the city, hardwired to the agencies, firms, and courtrooms. So far the coverage has been really well received."

Miami is the eleventh city served by Law360 correspondents, in addition to our headquarters in New York City and operations in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Wilmington, San Francisco and San Diego. Our correspondents also monitor developments in state courts in Trenton and other parts of New Jersey.

“We started an expansion into regional coverage last year after realizing that we were missing late-breaking stories from state courts,” said Jocelyn Allison, who coordinates and manages Law360’s national network of correspondents.

Law360 Readership Tops 150,000

Law360 has reached a significant milestone, with its paid readership now surpassing 150,000. Counting unpaid visitors to free areas of the website, we now reach almost 500,000 unique visitors per month.

Law360 is now used more than any other source for practice awareness, said co-CEO Marius Meland, who founded Law360 almost a decade ago.

Law360 Expands Skilled Research Team

While Law360 uses a proprietary set of algorithms to identify and flag developments in federal cases, the “last mile” of our tracking process involves a team of skilled researchers who have expanded their operations in the past three years under the tutelage of Assistant Managing Editor Shannon Henson.

“We’ve recently added an eleventh member to the team, which has become the core of our news gathering,” said Henson. “Few people realize the intensity of our news gathering process and the amount of training involved in helping researchers identify critical developments in litigation and regulation.”

The shift, which currently runs 12 hours a day, uses a proprietary computer aided system to scan nearly 20,000 litigation developments every business day. These docket entries, imported virtually live from about 100 federal courts, are checked continuously throughout the day. Our system meta-tags developments according to practice area, industry and the type of filing, allowing for highly specialized research tasks.
